Students in Carol Grasso’s first grade class at West Gates Elementary School recently participated in Dr. Seuss-themed centers in celebration of his birthday on March 2.

As part of the celebration, students listened to biographies of Dr. Seuss’ life and read many Dr. Seuss books in class. There were different literacy centers for students such as “fishing” for sight words with fishing poles for a “One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish” center. There was a “Cat in the Hat” rhyming match game, making up words and using real words to create a dice-roll game based on Dr. Seuss’ silly, made-up words in his books and a “Cat in the Hat” Crack-the Code trick word game.
