Lindenhurst, NEW YORK (April 2024)—Daniel Cahill, coach and advisor of Lindenhurst High School’s robotics team, the “Psicotics,” was recently honored by the FIRST Robotics organization with the Woodie Flowers Award. The award recognizes robotics team coaches who have displayed exceptional mentorship and support for their team.

Mr. Cahill was honored at FIRST’s regional Long Island Competition at Hofstra, where his team competed. The Woodie Flowers Award was created by Dr. William Murphy in 1996 to recognize special mentors whose teams compete at FIRST Robotics competitions. It honors leaders who motivate through communication and challenge their students to be clear and succinct in their own communications and goals. Winners are nominated by their own team members, and Mr. Cahill’s students wrote an essay recommending him for this special award.
