Students Get Special, Circus-Themed Physical Education Lessons

Lindenhurst, NEW YORK (February, 2024)—Physical education students at Alleghany Avenue Elementary School were recently treated to special, circus-themed lessons for the school’s Circus Week celebration. Instructors and performers from the National Circus Project visited Alleghany during physical education classes and demonstrated different circus arts, including juggling, stilt walking, plate spinning, object balancing, flower sticks and diabolos.

The National Circus Project is a local nonprofit that works with schools and gives lessons on how students can combine physical movement and exercise with the arts. Throughout the week of January 22nd, the Alleghany students practiced the various techniques, which culminated in a special performance by the school’s fifth graders for parents and teachers. The students mastered the techniques—much to the delight of an impressed school community! This special Circus Week celebration came courtesy the Alleghany PTA.
