Hispanic Heritage Month Celebrations at Harding Avenue!

Classes across Harding Avenue Elementary recently teamed up with their ENL teacher to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month (9/15-10/15). Students across multiple grade levels participated in engaging projects designed to honor Hispanic heritage and celebrate the rich, diverse cultures and traditions within our school community.
Kindergarteners in Ms. Gentile and Mrs. Patricio’s class celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month by learning about traditional Mexican folk art and crafting their own personalized papel picado flags featuring their names!

Every name has a story! Mrs. Trocchia and Mrs. Patricio’s 1st graders read How Alma Got Her Name by Juana Martinez-Neal, exploring the origins of their own names and creating family projects to celebrate their heritage/families.

Sharing our stories! Mrs. Segal and Mrs. Patricio’s 2nd-grade class crafted custom papel picado flags filled with information about themselves and their special family traditions

Honoring inspirational figures! Mrs. Dirlam and Mrs. Patricio’s 5th graders completed research projects on influential Hispanic leaders throughout history and created custom pennant flags to highlight their impact and contributions.
