Lindenhurst High School “Goes Bald” to Fight Childhood Cancer and raises over $5000

Recently, students and staff at Lindenhurst High School came together in a powerful show of support to help conquer childhood cancer during the school’s annual St. Baldrick's Foundation head-shaving event.
Throughout the day, the high school gymnasium was filled with energy and excitement as students, staff members, security guards, and administrators stepped up to participate. In total, 70 studnets, teachers, staff, and administrators bravely volunteered to have their heads shaved, drawing cheers and support from classmates, colleagues, and families in attendance.
For those who preferred to participate in other ways, there were still plenty of opportunities to show support. A bake sale helped raise additional funds, students could have festive green tinsel woven into their hair, and many gathered simply to cheer on their friends and celebrate the cause.
By the end of the day, event organizers announced that more than $5,000 had been raised in donations for the St. Baldrick's Foundation, which funds life-saving research and support for children battling cancer.
The event also drew tremendous attention online, with more than 30,000 views across the district’s social media platforms as the day’s activities unfolded.
A special thank you goes to guest barbers from The Holy Black Barbershop for volunteering their time and expertise, working alongside Lindenhurst High School’s cosmetology students to help shave the heads of the day’s participants. The Lindenhurst Union Free School District is proud of the compassion and generosity shown by its students and staff, and grateful to the Lindenhurst community for its continued support of meaningful initiatives like this one.
