Dear Parents/Guardians,

It is my hope that this letter greets you and your family in good health. I am honored to introduce myself as the new Principal of Daniel Street Elementary School. For the past 18 years, I have worked as an English teacher and a district-level Coordinator in the Lindenhurst Union Free School District. As a mother of two and a full-time doctoral student, I am committed to ensuring that our children are well prepared for the world around them.

As we begin to prepare for the 2020-2021 school year, we are all hoping to return to school in September. Rest assured, should we return to the building in the fall, we will continue to work together as a school community to strengthen our curriculum and provide students with opportunities for early success in a learning environment that is collaborative, creative, nurturing and academically challenging.

If permitted, I would like for us to meet each other as early as possible. Therefore, I will plan several “Meet and Greet” events during the opening of the school year, so that we have an opportunity to discuss how we can continue the legacy of academic achievement established at Daniel Street. Most importantly, during these uncertain times, we can begin discussing how we can work together to guarantee the health, safety, and happiness of our children. Information regarding specific “Meet and Greet” details will be forthcoming. Additionally, I will be in attendance at the first PTA meeting of the 2020-2021 school year.

In the meantime, over the next two months, please continue to read with your children and continue all you have done at home to prioritize learning. As you may know, our local library is offering many online services. You can find out more about summer reading programs by going directly to their link:https://lindenhurstlibrary.org/

Additionally, our i-Ready instructional program will be offered through August 14th to help in providing structure and continuity.

I look forward to meeting your family and I welcome the opportunity to forge our new educational partnership.

From my home to yours: thank you, be well, and have a healthy summer.

Sincerely,

Kimberly A. Boccanfuso
